SUMMARY OF LAST WEEK:
Racing was at BALLARAT on Saturday, big 10-race card, track was GOOD but there was a splash of rain through the day, many wanted to avoid the inside lanes but doubt there was any significant pattern/bias on the day.

RUN OF THE DAY:
Podium finishes this week go to debutante MURT THE FLIRT and PROFIT SHARE but hard to go by MUJADALE’s dashing win in the feature, the Ballarat Cup, he set a strong speed (1-15.8 1st-1200m) was revved-up well before the turn, and kept running, he looked like The Cleaner… His margin was significant on the line and he was as strong as anything chasing over the wire too.

Overall time for 2200m was 2-17.8. Runner-up AT FIRST SIGHT came through the same race as the winner and was a solid 2nd, FAT AL (sat handy/ gave all) and HURDY GURDY MAN (good over the line) were improved efforts however, it was a bit of a ”Grand Prix” race (most held their spots all way around) so that may have flattered? TUSCAN FIRE was sound (had chance) and THE INVENTOR did well after using some early petrol, his 11.36 last 200m was race-fastest.

Race 9 saw ZUMA ROC resume a winner, they played for luck coming from back and saving ground proving there was no bias, he ran by fit in-form horses too, one of those was EXIMIUS who looked winner when he took over 300m out but was no match winner, BACKSTEDT never shirked after leading, they were keen to get away from the rail, the quinella ran up inside him. OUR HAND OF FAITH kept finding the line here too. KING OF DUDES ran well 2nd-up at big odds after tardy start here. Time: 1-38.6 so tick under 2-secs off track record.

Race 6 was the Clockwise Classic and CARRIAGES was simply too fast over the 1000m, she set a solid clip 34.9 1st-600m and held the fave 2L on the line, that fave was PROMPT RETURN who did use some juice to get up into second, winner kept going far too well, he held second clearly. Both MORAL OUTRAGE (covered ground/ kept closing) and OLD TRIESTE (nice work late/ wants ground) ran well here, time was 59.4

Race 5 is worth a mention, winner was MAKING MAYHEM who sat handy and toughed it out to score beating the fave PROFIT SHARE who cost himself a win by racing keen early, he was very strong late and outside of him, it was a real on-pace race, 1st, 3rd-DURENDAL and 4th-SHAF all were up on speed, 5th-horse WE’VE GOT THIS closed quite well despite greenness and still has upside, these five had 3.3L to spare on the rest of the field and were in a different race. Time: 1-25.66

3YO MM Classic was Race 4 and debutante MURT THE FLIRT won it very well, loved the turn of speed from the back, yes it was a swooper’s race this one, in fact the first four home were all in the last five midrace, trainer suspects winner is group class so? Runner-up BOUNDARY swung wide and charged home at just start two and has a future, GUAJEO made up a stack of ground closer to the inside, she went through line nicely too, REIGNING METEOR was not flash out but was near the winner turning, he kept closing and ran well still. CRINKLECUT looks one to follow after being stopped in his tracks he picked-up and hit line sweetly… Can forgive on-pacers here, given race pattern = swoopers!! Time: 1-5.79

THE FORGIVE FILE:
LOCK AND LOAD (wide), CRINKLECUT (as mentioned), I’M A FLYING STAR (badly hampered), DEVON PRINCESS (amiss), WALTZING TO WIN (lame), MOTIVADO (plenty of issues) and RIALYA (amiss).

In SYDNEY it was KENSINGTON track at Randwick. Track was listed as DEAD-4 and yep, DEAD about covered it… Just an awful raceday, massive kick-back and really, you can forgive ANY horse who raced in behind runners on the day, even some beaten over 10L could well come out and win next start on a level playing field. Those leading or right on-speed won 6 of the 8 races, the other two winners were TERAI (box-seated) and RESURRECT (who swooped out wide off mad speed).

RUN OF THE DAY:
Runners-up are LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY and OFF THE RAILS but the major ‘prize’ will go to MEDCAUT who sat handy on solid speed, took over a long way out and just kept running, he was dominant today!

That early split was 48.6 1st-800m and his overall time was 1-33.24 for 1550m, he was in front 200m out and still had clearly fastest last 200m! CENTRE PIVOT ran on well from back/wide for second and still has upside. MAGICAL STANCE was an every chance 3rd and GOD’S IN HIM was quite good late, suspect he wants further now… winner had the RESURRECT form…

… and RESURRECT had just won (again) the race prior (R6) coming from the back off that strong speed (49.3 1st-800m), they then slowed-up (1-14.05 1st-1200m), runner-up PARIS MATCH had the last crack at him but could not get by, she is flying this prep though! SLIVOVITZ did a good job, he took over a long way out when pace slackened and note, swoopers ran 1-2 here. BARGE AND CHARGE resented racing with kick-back it seemdd, he hooked out and battled well for 4th. They ran 1-50.53 for 1800m here.

Race 5 was won by the best backed runner all day in SKARSGUARD who led (good spot today!), with blinkers on, and was never in doubt, punters were all over it. He led 41.6 1st-700m and ran 1-17.2 overall for 1300m. Outside of the winner there was 1.2L second-to-fifth, SURGE AHEAD (sat wide – good return), OFF THE RAILS (best closer – home 12.18 last 200m), PERFECT WEAPON (sound return) and SINJOREN (also sound – 2nd-up) made up that top-5.

THE FORGIVE FILE:
TURBULENT JET (bled), MR ONE ELEVEN (worked way too hard), SIR BIGGLESWORTH ( no peace), ENORMOUS HONOUR (neverr happy/ pulled-up coughing), METICULOUSLY (wide), MAJESTIC BEAST (poor recovery) and MUSIC MAN (bled).
